Request Account Deletion
You can delete your Double Couple account and the data associated with it at any time. There are two ways to do it — use whichever suits you. You do not need to have the app installed.
Delete from your account settings
Open Double Couple and go to Settings → Account Information → Delete Account. You will be asked to confirm with your password. Deletion happens immediately and cannot be undone.
Ask us to delete it for you
If you have already uninstalled the app, or you cannot sign in, email us and we will delete the account for you. No reinstall is needed.
Please send the request from the email address the account is registered to, and include your profile name. We use this to confirm the request really comes from the account holder — we cannot delete an account on the word of someone we cannot verify. If we cannot match the request to an account, we will write back and ask.
We action deletion requests within 30 days of receiving them, and normally much sooner.
What Gets Deleted
Deleting your account permanently removes the following. This cannot be reversed, and we cannot restore an account once it is gone.
- Your login details — email address and password
- Your profile — names, ages, descriptions, profile picture and display images
- Every photo and video you uploaded, deleted from our media storage
- Your posts and events, including their photos and videos
- Your comments, replies and likes
- Your conversations and messages, including any photos or videos shared in them
- Your matches, swipes and travel matching entries
- Your blocked users list
- Your notifications and push notification tokens
- Your interests and event attendance
- Content moderation records relating to your account
- Reports you have made about other users
Note that deleting your account also ends your conversations for the people you were matched with, and removes the messages and shared media in them for both sides.
What Is Retained, and For How Long
A small amount of data outlives the account. Each item below is either a technical necessity or a legal obligation, and none of it is used to rebuild your profile.
| Data | Why | Retention |
|---|---|---|
| Encrypted database backups | Disaster recovery. Backups are not readable as individual profiles and are never used to restore a deleted account. | Up to 30 days, then automatically overwritten |
| Technical server logs — IP address, request time, error details | Security, abuse prevention and debugging. | Up to 30 days |
| Purchase and subscription records | We do not store these ourselves. Payments are processed by Google Play and the Apple App Store, and subscriptions are managed for us by RevenueCat. | Held by those providers under their own policies and the accounting law they are subject to, not by us |
Subscriptions
Deleting your account does not cancel a paid subscription. Subscriptions are billed by Google Play or the Apple App Store, so you need to cancel yours there — in the Play Store under Payments & subscriptions, or in iOS Settings → your name → Subscriptions. Cancel before deleting your account, otherwise billing continues.
